superficiality runs like a scar

why are they so superficial? cant they see through the social pretense or are they already slaves to it.. in a world where change is a constant.. a constant hassle to adapt.. everything i thought i knew is no longer relevant.. ironically only the new is familiar while the old seems strangely distant..
